Makee-brations

Even though Mak will never remember his first birthday, I will try to document every event of his b-day weekend last week. The day started out as usual--a walk with our friends, and a morning playing with Itcha. My mom picked up lunch and a sugar cookie and ice cream for Makee for his b-day. What a spoiled boy! Whit came over to join us for the b-day lunch. Later, Mak's Aunt Heather and cousins Beck and Nash came over and brought him some birthday animal cookies. I didn't get a picture because soon after they got there, I went to get Makee from his nap and he had another huge diaper disaster! So things were a bit chaotic. Heather helped me get Makee in the tub while I cleaned up the mess. Thanks for the help, Heath! Here is a picture of Makee with his cousins a few days later. That night, Danel and I took Makee to the Salt Lake City Library to look around. We got some way cute pictures of our little dude. It was so fun. That is a way cool library, and the kids area is awesome. Mak Doodle loved it. After the library, we hit L & L Hawaiian Barbeque for dinner. Dan said it was Makee's favorite restaurant, but I'm pretty sure it's not. We also did a bit of b-day shopping for our little guy after dinner. We had to get him a cute new outfit for his pictures the next day. That night my parents and Whit and Isabelle came over to visit the birthday boy. Jared had school--bummer! They brought him some little gifts to open. Yes, my parents gave him the exact "boy" replica of the little pink purse Ich got for her birthday. Mak didn't seem nearly as interested in the singing tool belt as he was the pink purse! We're working on that. Whit and Isabelle gave him some cute little cars and the CUTEST Vans I've ever seen. What a great first birthday for our little dude, and the celebrations had just begun! The next morning, Dan had work off and my mom took Isabelle so we could spend the whole day celebrating with Makai. We got up first thing and took him to Gardener Village to take some One Year Old pictures of him. He wasn't too cooperative, but we had fun, and I think we got some cute ones. After that, we took him to his One Year Check-Up appointment. He weighed 17 lbs. 7 oz. and was 29 1/4 inches long. He's so small, he's not even on the charts! Where did this tiny little guy come from? The doctor said she is not worried as long as he is a good eater and is healthy. He eats PLENTY--I promise. We hit Jason's Deli for lunch--apparently another one of Mak's favorite places to eat according to Daniel. After an afternoon nap, we took him to the aquarium! He loved it, and Dan loved being there with him. When Daniel was letting him play in the water with the stingrays, he was splashing and one of the stingrays came up to his hand! He just kept splashing and smacking the stingray--Um, kinda gross, kinda scary, kinda funny! We had such a fun day with our little boy. We ended the night at Chili's, which I am certain is the Mak's favorite restaurant. Saturday we spent prepping for his birthday party. Saturday night, we went to dinner at El Farol with my fam. After several attempts to come over, Jared finally brought his present for Mak to dinner. He gave him a piano, which he loves! As you know because I already posted the pics, we ended the b-day weekend with a bang. His family party was so much fun. Thanks for all the calls visits, and everyone who particpated in Makee's first birthday adventures!
