Bear Lake 2008

My Uncle Spence and Aunt Beckey and cousins have a cabin up at Bear Lake, and we have been going every Labor Day weekend for as long as I can remember. Last year we didn't get to go because Whit had just had Isabelle, and I was just going into labor with Mak on Labor Day--ironic, isn't it? So we were really looking forward to going this year. Since Daniel now has Fridays off, we went up early on Friday morning with Makee. It was nice to get up there early. We just hung out on the porch pretty much all afternoon until everyone else got there. It was a different trip with two babies, and so much fun. They both did really well up there, and they had a blast playing with my cousins. I think Mak's favorite part of the trip was the enormous teddy bears Spence and Beck had up there. He hugged them and gave them kisses over and over. It was so sweet! One day we went to the beach like we always do. We rented a super fast jet ski that was awesome. Makee loved the beach. He did not care how cold the water was. He also got his first taste of sand. I looked away for one second and looked over at him with a mouthfull in his mouth. He was not happy! But he did have fun playing in the sand with his daddy. Dan also had fun carving out our names in the sand. What a perfect day at the beach!Since the trip was in between Isabelle's and Makai's birthdays, they had a little b-day party for them. We had the legendary Papa Pizza from Bear Lake. We put a dollar bill next to the cake so you can get an idea just how huge this pizza is. They bought a cake, and gave the babies a Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuffed animal, and also gave them singing birthday cards. They were rockin' out to the Boot Scootin' Boogie, and I'm sure we will be until the batteries die. I thought it was so sweet of them to think of the babies for their birthdays! The rest of the time we just spent chillin' at the cabin. We hit the dirt roads on the four wheelers, hanging out in hammocks, and stuffing our faces with more food than we could have ever consumed in a three week period. We played Baci ball, the marble game, the sign game, which was hilarious to play with my mom and dad and Spence. We were laughing until we were crying! The last night was freezing with the storm blowing in, but it was so cozy up there in the cabin. We hung around their campfire for as long as we could. I love sitting around their campfire and listening to Dad and Spence talk about their childhood memories. We had such a blast this year. Thanks, Spence, Beck, and everyone for everything! We have so many great memories at Lake, and hopefully many more to come! We love you guys.

The trip looks like so much fun! Makee is getting so big. I can't believe he's almost a year old already! Oh it goes so fast.
