Good-Bye, Rocket

High school is a funny time. You spend three short years making friends and memories you think about for the rest of your life. Today I learned of the passing of one of my good friends from high school, Rocky Berrichoa. He was better known to me as Rocket, or Foxy Roxy. I was better known to him as Lyns-Bum. Rocky and I didn't keep in touch much after high school, although I have thought about him often. Just recently, we reconnected through Facebook. I was so sad to hear of the loss of such an incredible person. Rocket was one of the sweetest guys I knew. He was kind, gentle, thoughtful, and so much fun. I have so many memories with him--Hanging out at each other's houses and other friends' houses, going to Woody's and Target, making him a rocket birthday cake, and picking him up and driving around in my mini van, just to name a few. But mostly I remember the countless hours we spent hanging out at my house--either in a big group, or just me and him. As I can't sleep tonight, I've been going through old yearbooks and pictures, and it brings back floods of great memories of a time with Rocky and great friends. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those days. Rocket, I always had a soft place in my heart for you, and I always will. Thanks for the memories. I love you, and I will always remember you. This shocked me when I heard the news. He was just way too young. He will be missed.

I too have been taking a trip down memory lane; for three plus years we were all such a huge part of each others lives. I truly believe that the friendships made will forever leave a foot print on my heart; Rocky was definitely one of those people. I appreciate this post Linds, and even though we all have lost touch with one another our time spend together and the memories will never be forgotten. Hope you and Daniel and the kiddo's are well!

Sorry to hear that you lost a friend. That is really sad, but you're post was very sweet.

Sorry to hear about your loss for your friend. He is too young to go. What happened? Does he have a family? How sad.

What a great tribute you did though.

I just re-read my comment and it sounds stupid... I don't mean does he have a family? Of course he has a family. I meant does he have a wife and kids? Has he started his own little family?

Duh... That sounded dumb.

I am sorry for EVERYONE in his family.
