On Facebook one of my friends from elementary, Lyndsi posted this second grade picture with our teacher, Mrs. Tregeagle. Tons of people from the class were commenting on it, and I think someone joked about having a reunion. But it actually happened! 20 years later. I had to go late because I had a family thing, but I met up with everyone at Italian Village. It was sooo weird but so fun to see everyone! It was a great turnout. And it was so fun to see Mrs. Tregeagle. She was one of my favorite teachers. We were her first class ever! And she's still teaching. I told her she was one of the reasons I decided to teach. She said when she "retires" she wants to teach for a year at the School with No Name, then go teach on a reservation. What an amazing lady. I told her that I'm sure her kids love her as much as we did. She said, "You could ask one boy I teach. One day he said, "Mrs. Tregeagle, I love you so much, I've really been thinking hard about what I want to get you for Christmas." And she told him he didn't need to get her anything, and he said, "But I want to. And I know what I want to get you. I want to get you a membership to a Fat Farm so you can lose weight and live longer." And she thought that was the sweetest thing ever because he was thinking of her! She said after that she ran him really hard in PE. He said, "Mrs. Tregeagle, this is really hard!" And she said, "That's what they make us do on the Fat Farm!" If she writes a book about all her stories, which I told her she absolutely had to do, she said she would title it, "Fat Farm Express." It made me think of all the funny stories I had from when I taught. I need to write them down so I don't forget. Kids say the darndest things!
After Italian Village, the six of us sat out in the freezing parking lot for over an hour talking. After we couldn't take the cold anymore, we decided to go to Leatherby's for some ice cream. I totally felt like I was in high school again! Thanks for the memories!
