Happy 4th of July!

We had a great Independence Day. Aren't these sunglasses that Makai is wearing funny? Daniel's mom got them up at Girl's camp, and the Mak Attack loved them! We started out the day by going hiking with Daniel's parents. What is going on? The girl who hates hiking has been quite the hiker lately! I guess I love my husband. We went to a place up Big Cottonwood Canyon called the Willow Heights Trail. It was a bit steep for about 2/3 of the way, but it was seriously one of the most beautiful hikes I have been on. We had a really fun time talking and hanging out. It was a perfect morning for a hike. Dan has been quite the nature-istic photographer lately. Here are some pics he has taken.

Later that afternoon, my family and my aunt JoAnn came over for a BBQ. Whit's boyfriend Pete is here from Mexico, so it was fun to spend the evening with him. Dan made the best garlic burgers ever. We also had roasted corn and tons of other delicious food. We could not attempt to eat it all. Along with ice cream, the Mak Daddy has also discovered a love of licorice. Daniel has always loved licorice. I love the picture of both of my boys enjoying their red ropes. I made some patriotic sugar cookies; Mmmm, frosting! Jared requested that we make fruit pizza too. It turned out pretty good, and it was totally easy to make. Daniel made the flag one, and I made the other one. We had a great time just chillin' in the backyard with the fam. We played a mean game of croquet and Baci ball. Me, Dan, and my dad slaughtered Whit, Pete, and Jared at Baci. It was awesome! It was the first year we haven't gone to Murray Park to watch the fireworks. Makee would never have lasted that late. We put him down at about 8:30 and just watched the fireworks from our backyard. It wasn't a great view from Murray Park, but we could see them pretty well from our chairs. What a fun night! We've still got a lot to do in our backyard, but it's been fun to have people over lately. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

I am impressed by all the hiking. My mom told me that we are suppose to do a short hike this week and I cringe just thinking of attempting it again this summer.

Your 4th of July looks awesome! I am seriously jealous of your cute patio furniture. Good job on the festive cookies and fruit pizza!

BTW- Whitney if you are reading this, send me your email to tiffanysimmons_@hotmail.com and we can get this blog thing figured out..
