Happy Father’s Day

I hope that all of the fathers had a wonderful day. I am so fortunate to have so many great men in my life. Sunday we had such a nice day at church, and then we had Daniel’s family over at our house for a crepe bar—YUM! It was so good. I love that about Dan’s family. They are always thinking of cool things to eat. We also celebrated some of the Anderson June birthdays, so I made this birthday carrot cake. It was tons of fun to have everyone over. We hung out in our backyard, and it was a beautiful day. I’m so glad that our backyard is coming together so we can hang out and have people over. Daniel’s dad, Doug is such a great guy. He will do anything for anybody. He cares so much for his family and does so much for us and for his family. He just loves to have a good time, and we love him. Later on, we went over to my parent’s house to celebrate Father’s Day. My grandma and Aunt JoAnn came over, and we had a great time. I love my dad so much. My favorite thing about my dad is that he thinks I am funny no matter what—even when no one else does. He totally gets my cheesy sense of humor. I have always been able to talk to my dad about anything. We think a lot alike, so he always seems to understand me. He is happy as long as the family is together. He has always made family a priority. Whenever I smile at my dad, or do something goofy, he’ll grin and ask me, “Lyns, are you happy?” He loves to know that I am happy. He’s happy when we’re all happy. He loves his grandkids so much, and they adore him. He's the best dad ever. I love you so much, Poothead!

It was Daniel’s first Father’s Day, so I had a lot of fun shopping for him. His favorite gift was a photo book I made him from the Shutterfly website (Shutterfly is so awesome. You should check it out if you haven’t). He loved all the pictures of him and Mak. JoAnn gave Dan this sweet apron that said "NEW DAD" on it, and he was stoked about it. I always knew Dan would be a great dad, but I don’t think I ever imagined how much he would love Makai. I love how involved he is with everything his baby boy does. He doesn’t want to miss out on a thing. He cherishes his son more than anything. He is the cutest Daddy on the planet, and Makee loves him so much. Daniel just has to walk in the room, and Makai will grin from ear to ear. Ever since Makai was born, Daniel has always been able to hold him and comfort him when he's upset. They have had a special bond from the beginning. I love to watch both of them play together. Mak is such a lucky boy to have a dad that loves him so much. I know they will only get closer as Makai gets older. I want to thank Daniel for not only being a wonderful dad, but also for being a wonderful husband. He is so good to me. I am always saying how patient he is with me, but it’s hard to say just how patient he is with me. For example, just a couple weeks ago, I lost my keys. After searching for them for over a week, we thought they were long gone. Daniel went and had new keys made for me. The day after he made me my new keys, I could not find them anywhere. I frantically looked for them, and was so scared he would be mad when I told him I had lost my second set of keys in less than two weeks. When I told him, he just laughed. I’m glad he can find humor in a stressful situation. In case you're wondering, Whitney found my keys--both in the same secret pocket in Makee's diaper bag. I’m such a ditz! Anyway, more good things about my husband: He is so sweet and so thoughtful. I knew he was a keeper when we started dating. He always put so much thought into the dates we went on, and he was always thinking of me and what I would like. He is still like that five years later. We have tons of fun no matter what we we are doing. He works so hard at his job and also on our house. He has made our house such a nice place to live, and he continues to make it nicer all the time. I can talk to Daniel about anything. He is always so understanding. When I am upset about something, he just listens until I let it all out. But he always puts things in perspective for me. He always helps me see the other side, and he makes me feel better about a difficult situation. He is so sensitive to my feelings. But he always teases me and makes me laugh. He knows me better than I know myself. His favorite thing to do is just spend time together with me and Makee. I am so grateful for Daniel. I could not ask for a better husband. I love you, tons, Danel! Thanks for being the best husband and daddy in the world.
