Yup, Makai has RSV. If you don't know what RSV is, it is basically a virus that causes a respiratory infection. It can be very dangerous for babies. We have been worried all winter season that he may get it and have to go to the hospital, especially because he was a preemie. We thought now that it was near the end of the RSV season, we were safe...Yeah, right. What makes me feel worse is that I'm pretty sure I am the one that passed it on to him since I have been sick with a bad cough.
Last Saturday, he woke up and was feeling very warm. We took his temperature, and it was almost 102 degrees. I called the doctor, and she said to give him Tylenol and bring him in if his fever did not go down by Tuesday. Well, the fever went down, but he began coughing. I called the doctor again, and they said there is nothing they could do for a cough. They said to bring him in if he was fussy and not sleeping at night. He such a good natured little guy, he really hasn't been too fussy. But his cough only seemed to be getting worse. Finally, we took him in on Thursday. The second the doctor heard him breathe, she could tell he had RSV. She told us that it was good that he had been sick for a few days because that told her that he was able to handle the sickness on his own. Really, he has not been acting too miserable. He has still been eating and sleeping fairly well. It's just that darn cough. He hasn't been his usual playful self. I'm just so relieved that he got RSV when he was bigger and that he didn't have to go to the hospital. Apparently, it will take a couple weeks for him to get over it, and he is still contagious. But he's dealing with it like a trooper. He seems to be feeling a little bit better. My parents came over to see him last night, and he was so happy to see them. He even played a little. I just hope he gets over it soon. It's so sad when I can't do anything for him! The only good thing is...He just wants to be cuddled, and we are okay with that.

Hey Lynds and Daniel... I ran across your blog and thought that I would say HI! Your little boy is absolutely darling!! Hope things are going well for the two (three) of you!

I am so glad my little Makey is doing ok. I have missed seeing him every day. Hopefully he will start feeling better soon because Belly misses playing with him. Love ya!
I am so sorry that Makai got RSV. That was always my big worry and luckily Parker never got it. That is good that he has been acting okay though. I hate having a baby that is sad and not feeling good and you can't do anything to help him! I do miss our walks but we will go as soon as he can get out! Everytime if I ask Parker if he wants to go on a walk he says, "Lets go get Lyndsie, Makai, and Isabelle!" He misses you too.
I heard about the RSV and I am very sorry!! That cannot be a fun thing. I am glad he is such a little trooper over the whole ordeal. Feel better little buddy!
That totally sucks. Hope he is feeling better now. I hope Isabelle doesn't get it too. Cool he is sitting now too. They grow up all too fast.
Lynds your little boy is so dang adorable! He is just about 2 1/2 months older than my baby. How are you guys? I'm so glad that we can keep in touch through blogs.
Hon I am so sorry and as you know I have been there with a baby and sickness...here is a hug from me and a promise that it will get better.
Guess what conner has those same green caterpillar pjs (or so we call them) I think he is in bed sleeping in them right now actually!
I'm sorry your little guy is sick! Joshua just caught another cold as well--seems like he just got over his last one. It's miserable to feel helpless! Just keep telling yourself that with every sickness, his immune system gets stronger.
Oh so sad!! Sick babies are no fun!! I hope he gets better soon! and It was fun seeing you today! we need to get together soon!
Oh poor baby! Good thing he did not have to stay in the hospital!
