It all started on Monday September 3. Lyndsie felt like she couldn't last another month being pregnant. Her due date was not until October 4. Well, we took a walk on Monday night to help keep all of us in shape. Lyndsie started having contractions about 9 pm. She experienced contractions previously in her pregnancy. These contractions were more consistent (about every 7 minutes). She began to time her contractions. She then woke Daniel up. He began timing her contractions with the stopwatch on his cell phone. They were getting closer together. Finally they were about 4 or 5 minutes apart. We decided to go in to St. Marks hospital at 2 AM. The nurses figured Lyndsie was in false labor. She checked her and she was at a one. The nurse waited and hour and Lyndsie was still at a one. They sent us home.
We were both sad. We went back to sleep in 5-6 minute increments. We continued timing the contractions. The timing didn't change much, but the intensity continued to increase. We called the doctor and they didn't say much. They gave us some prescriptions for her pain. Daniel went to the pharmacy to pick up the meds. Lyndsie called and said she had just thrown up and the pain was getting worse. Daniel went home and they both left for the hospital at 3 PM.
The nurses were a lot more friendly this time. Lyndsie was hooked up to the baby heart and contraction monitors. When the nurse finally checked Lyndsie she was at a 7! They admitted her. Lyndsie requested an epidural and was lucky that the anesthesiologist got done so fast with his prior patient.
Lyndsie went to a full 10 in about 2 hours. She started pushing. There was a little scare in the delivery room. The baby's heart rate dropped and Lyndsie blood pressure dropped. In about 5 seconds there were about 10 people (nurses & doctors) were in the room. They were going to do an emergency Cesarian section or use forceps. Just then, the baby's heart rate and Lyndsie's blood pressure returned to normal. Lyndsie began pushing again for about 20 minutes. The baby's heart rate dropped again (but not as low). The doctor was concerned again. She decided to use a vacuum (suction). It took only a couple more pushes and he was out!
