Here's an update on our little girls: We found out they are going to be identical! They are each in their own sac, but they are sharing a placenta. This can cause many potential problems for the babies because one can start taking all the nutrients so the other doesn't grow. There is also something called twin to twin transfusion that can occur. When one baby isn't getting enough nutrients, it starts taking all the blood of the other baby to compensate for a lack in nutrients. This can be very dangerous to both babies. I have been going in for weekly ultrasounds to keep a close watch on the babies. The last couple times I have gone in, one baby has been quite a big bigger than the other, and she has had a lot more fluid in her sac. Today when we went, we found out that both babies are almost the same size! And the fluid in both of the sacs seems to be equaling out. We're not out of the woods yet. I still have to go in weekly, but hopefully this trend of balancing out will continue.
I know this little miracle hasn't happened for no reason. We have been praying so hard that these little girls are going to be okay. My dad and Daniel gave me a blessing last week that we would have the faith that these babies were going to be okay. We were able to go the temple this last weekend with Whit and Pete, and being there I felt so happy and so peaceful. My parents fasted yesterday, and Daniel has been fasting a lot for our little girls. He already loves them so much! It is so neat to go in for ultrasounds. He always goes with me, and we love watching our little daughters in there laying on each other and kicking each other. It's already getting squishy in there!
We had a short period of feeling like it might be a good time to move into a house that might give us more room for three kids, but after a lot of prayers, we have realized that we just need to focus on getting our little girls here, and nothing else matters. And I'm really happy with that. I really can't bear the thoughts of moving right now. We are so happy where we are. We also got the news from the doc that our Hawaii trip we had scheduled in May with my family is not allowed, and our trip we had planned in June to go to California with Dan's family is not allowed either. She said the babies will be here by no later than 34 weeks, which puts my due date around mid June. My doctor also said to plan on the babies spending some time in the NICU. But we're okay with that. New houses and trips don't really matter. We just feel so blessed right now. Heavenly Father truly does know us and answer our prayers. We have had so many miracles in our lives, and although I know we have a long road until we get the girls home and healthy, I know we are being watched over, and that things will work out.
