It's incredible how quickly Makai is starting to pick up on things. If he hears anyone say, "Hello," he puts his hand up to his ear like he's talking on the phone. It's the cutest thing ever! He loves playing with the phones. He now understands the word "No," although he seems to understand much better when his dad tells him no in a stern voice. When I say no, he looks at me and smiles. I find myself hiding my face as I try to contain my giggles. I feel like I'm teaching first grade again. Haven't I learned that they don't take you seriously if you laugh? And I swear Makee says the word, "ball." Whenever we're playing with a ball, he will keep saying, "Bah, bah, bah." Coincidence? Maybe. But here's what happened last night: Daniel and I are growing quite tired of the constant whining and yelling for more food that comes from the mouth of our little boy 24/7. As you can see from this picture, Makee is no longer satisfied with little broken up pieces of food. He wants the whole string cheese, the whole cookie, etc. But he inhales food so fast, I worry that he will choke. So last night as we were eating, Dan decided to try to teach him the word more. He said, "Oh, Mommy, do you want more?" He kept signing "more" as he said the word. When I said and signed "more," he gave me a grape. Then he would say and sign "more" and I gave him a grape. This went back and forth for a while and Makai just stared at us like, "What are they doing?" When he was bored of our little game, he started to whine for his grape. We kept saying, "more" and I could tell he was watching my lips. Suddenly, "Muh" came out! We clapped and gave him a grape. He was very pleased with himself. For the rest of the night, we did not give him food unless he said, "Muh." Coincidence again? I don't think so! We'll see if he remembers "Muh" today.
