Sunday we went to my Grandma Nak’s for a homemade Japanese meal. She made Sukiyaki and chow
mein— Mmm-Mmm-Mmm! Mak tried tofu for the first time, and loved it! Gran always makes a delicious meal, but her Japanese food is out of this world. Some of my other favorites are sweet and sour
pork, candied chicken, and teriyaki chicken, and Daniel’s favorite inarizushi (or Japanese Twinkies as he likes to call them). We always try to get her to write down her recipes, which has been difficult because nothing is measured out. It’s all done from taste. I really need to learn from her. Thanks for nourishing my Japanese roots, Gran! Many of our Japanese traditions have been lost through the years, but I really hope to pass some on to my children.

You are getting so fancy with your blogging. How do you do the pictures on both sides? Cute picture of Makey!
I love Japanese food! My dad went on his mission to Japan and we went there to visit a few years ago and the food was so, so good!
You need to try to get those recipes. Your grandma is just like my aunt that is Japanese. She doesn't have any recipes written down when I ask for them. I have been looking for a good sukiyaki recipe. We need to for sure have a Japanese night and you can make one of these yummy dishes and I can make gyozas. Dan's job will be to bring the Inarizushi.
