Dan, Dan the Handy Man

Our front and backyard continue to be a project. When we bought our house, our yard was entirely made of weeds. Dan has worked so hard, and it is really beginning to come together. Below is a picture of what our front yard is looking like. He also built a shed in our backyard. He did it all by himself. He is such a handy man! He is able to learn how to do so many things on his own. This week we worked on digging and raking to get parts of our yard ready for concrete. Yay! Good-bye weeds. We should be getting cement poured sometime next week. While we work, we put Makai in his stroller and he watches us work. What a good boy!

Daniel also received his diploma in the mail for his Masters. He has put so much effort into his school, and I am so proud of his hard work. I have yet to take him out to celebrate, but I decided to give him the gifts Mak and I got him so he could get to work in our yard. Yes, boring I know, but yard tools are what he likes. One of the things I got him was a weed wacker/edger that I ordered off of an infomercial. I am a sucker for TV infomercials. I always want to buy stuff from them, but Daniel always says, “NO WAY!” I ordered it with 26 seconds left, and I was so excited! I wasn’t sure how he would feel about me ordering him something from TV, but he is actually very excited about trying it out.

Memorial Day Weekend

Besides a weekend of yard work, we also had plenty of other activities to keep us busy. Saturday, Daniel had to work. So I went with my parents to visit my grandparents and Uncle Gary’s graves for Memorial Day. I think of them often and miss them very much. It was a good day to think about them and reflect on the great memories I have of each of them. I’m sure Makai knew them up in heaven.

Saturday night, we went to an Elder’s quorum BBQ. It was a lot of fun. They had Baci Ball, a three-legged race, and Daniel even got a game of Ultimate Frisbee going. I think everyone had a great time. Makai of course loved it because he was outside.

Park City

Today was Memorial Day. Daniel had to work, which was a bummer. But Makee and I went up to Park City with my family for the day. Although the weather was not as pleasant as it should have been, we had a lot of fun. We ate at the Eating Establishment and walked down Main Street. And what would a trip up to Park City be without hitting the Outlet Mall? By the time we made it there, we had to do some major power shopping because it was cold and the babies were tired. When we got back, Dan the Man joined us for some pizza. It was a really fun day.

Congratulations to Dan! I think that it only fits that it should come with a raise right? Anyway, your yard is looking really good. You guys have done a lot of work getting those nasty weeds out. That will look so nice and different when you get the concrete poured.

Okay this is funny... MIck is sitting here on the computer and shows me this trimmer/edger tool that he wants. He said he saw it on a infomercial. I thought of this post and showed him and it is seriously the same one... I guess we may be copycats. How do you like it?? How funny!
